Media Sign

For this dynamic sign, projected on the wall of Yale’s graphic design studio, I chose a set of words and phrases that have recently entered the media vocabulary via political campaigning or propaganda. My program searches a real-time news feed for these “media viruses” and layers any matching headlines over the keyword as they are published. The accumulation eventually obscures the keyword or phrase, sometimes in a few hours, sometimes in a few days.
